In this workshop, we’ll break down a new choreography that includes juicy shimmies, basic to intermediate isolation patterns, sassy hip work, and a little attitude on top! We’ll go over the construction of the drum solo choreography and discuss the arrangements of patterns and the selection of specific movements according to the various rhythms played within the song.

This choreography is perfect for any performance setting or stage -we’ll even go over staging and how perform this choreography in duet or troupe setting! Bring your hip scarves and get ready to dance, shimmy, and discover your inner diva!
11:30am-1:30pm"Art of Balancing" (Candle Tray: Dance & Floorwork)Amae (Austin, TX) Featured Instructor (Click here for bio)"THE ART OF BALANCING- CANDLE TRAY DANCE & FOOTWORK"

“The Tricks of the Tray" We will take time to learn about different styles of tray, the best way to prep your prop, materials, and safety.
“The Balancing Act” We will focus on technique, posture, and the best way to isolate your upper body for your prop. From there, we will take basic belly dance moves and learn how to incorporate levels and layers. This really adds to the depth of your performance while using balancing props .
“Floor work Technique” We will then focus on descending (the proper way to get to the floor) and variations, as well ascending from the floor. We will then learn floor work movements and combinations best for balancing props.

What you will need to bring:
If you have sensitive knees, I would suggest bringing knees pads and or a yoga mat.
If you don't have a tray, I will be able to supply small prop trays
1:45pm-3:30pmFlash Mob WorkshopKarla Marie(New Orleans | Honduras) Featured Instructor & Shimmy Soul Host (Click here for Bio)In this workshop we will learn a basic Latin Fusion Choreography specifically designed for a Flash Mob setting with lots of yummy moves, directional turns and changes, and a beautiful fusion of Latin Dance styles (Salsa, Bachata, Flamenco, and Kizomba) and Oriental Dance! Shimmy Soul Participants along with local Belly Dance Goddess Hour students will have the opportunity to perform in a Flash Mob on Sunday, December 10 at 5pm (French Quarter, New Orleans)

We will activate and open our Heart chakra through powerful exercises, learning to unlock and balance energy through dance. Karla Marie is a Middle Eastern Dance Instructor and energy light worker, trained in Reiki and energy reading and healing, she also serves as a professional Communications Specialist trained in body language.

During this workshop, you will learn energy clearing techniques and chakra activating practices and incorporate them into your belly dancing. We will go through specific footwork, technique, isolations and drills, incorporating breath and visualization focused on the heart chakra, as a tool to enhance our dancing. Learn to connect with your energy and body to express authenticity and sincerity in your dance. Learn to connect with the audience during performance through specific communication techniques and movements that allow your dancing to come alive with intention and a deeper connection for stronger, more powerful presentation. 11:30am-2pm"Dancing to Oum Kalthoum" (Technique and Choreography / Egyptian Oriental)Alexandra Molina (Miami|Cuba/CR) Featured Instructors (Click here for bio)From technique to story-telling, Alexandra's "Dancing to Oum Kalthoum" Workshop will intrigue and dazzle your senses! Participants will work on dancing with expression using silky arms, juicy hip-work and level changes as well as how to interpret lyrical music of Oum Kalthoum. The workshop will focus on a choreography to "We Daret el Ayam (The Days Went On)."

Oum Kalthoum was an Egyptian singer, songwriter, and actress that strongly impacted the Middle East during times of war and peace in the late 20th century. A highly influential cultural and political figure, she was given the honorary title of "Start of the East."
