Les Fous du Carnaval Parade 
Friday, January 31st 
in the French Quarter 
(6:30pm lineup)

Inspired by the Muse Terpsichore
which means "delight in dancing" 
We will honor
New Orleans Dance & Parade Culture 
We will wear Royal Blue to represent
the Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain
surrounding the Crescent City and offering 
connection and protection

You have two options when parading with us... 

1. Join as an official Shimmy Shakti Belly Dance Goddess Krewe Member (march/dance). Shimmy Shakti Belly Dance Goddesses are belly dancing members of our krewe. Shimmy Shakti Belly Dance Goddesses DANCE in formation
  • Required:
    • Studio class attendance required (Full class schedule) 
      • Minimum of 3 classes
      • You will learn belly dance basics and combos and be able to dance in the parade
      • Guest/Visiting Belly Dancers/Troupes can join at this level. (Email for class attendance requirement details for visiting belly dancers)
    • Park marching practice (Sunday, January 19 | Audubon Park | 12pm)
    • Costume:
      • Full Shimmy Shakti Goddess Costumes
      • Goddess Headpiece/Crown
      • Isis Wings (any color)
  • Optional:
    • Shimmy Shakti Sports Bottle or Lid-top Tumbler (Available for Purchase)
    • Evil Eye/Belly Dance-inspired throws
  • $35 Shimmy Shakti Parading fee
2. Join as a support member. There are two types of support members:
  • Habibi (Dancing Krewe Member) & Shimmy Shakti In Training (Non-Dancing Krewe Member) MARCH/WALK in the formation
    • Required:
      • Park marching practice (Sunday, January 19 | Audubon Park | 12pm)
      • Costume:
        • Full Shimmy Shakti Goddess Costumes (No Isis Wings)
        • Goddess Headpiece/Crown
        • Evil Eye/Belly Dance-inspired throws
        • Tambourines or zills (Honoring New Orleans Dance Culture)
    • Optional:
      • Shimmy Shakti Sports Bottle or Lid-top Tumbler (Available for Purchase)
      • Studio class attendance is not required. 
    • $35 Shimmy Shakti Parading Fee
  • Support Member (Nazar): 
    • Nazar Support Members assist with protection, with carrying the banner or flags in front, wagons, crowd control, and water.
    • Wear a Nazar - evil eye - shirt- white, blue, or black
    • Studio class attendance is not required. 
    • Park marching practice is recommended
    • $35 Shimmy Shakti Parading Fee

2024 New Session Registration Details are Below We take a  Winter Holiday and Mardi Gras Break  and return to our sessions after Mardi Gras. However,  Before our intensives begin, we have two workshops and Drop in Classes available for you to check out! Our new sessions start in March.  Space fills up quickly.
