  • Sept 1, 2024: Shimmy Shakti w/Krewe of Goddesses @Southern Decadence
    • Shimmy Shakti Goddess Krewe Fee (Fall Season: August-November) $35
    • Open Studio Class (OPTIONAL Tryout Class): 
      • Thursday, August 8, 2024 (7pm-8:30pm) Drop In Fee $15
    • Registration Deadline: August 10, 2024
    • Requirement (by Sept 1): 
      • Costume purchase (each goddess selects their costume items based on the colors and elements of our krewe)
      • Know basic 12 belly dance moves
        • Attendance in at least 4 studio classes (by Karla Marie) by September 1
          • Classes Available: August 15, 17, 22, 24
          • Cost of classes $80
        • Class fees additional, check class schedule
      • Know basic 4 formations
        • Attendance at the 2 Marching Practices (Audubon Park) Dates TBD  (no cost for park practices)
      • What if you paid your membership fee but didn't meet the requirements?
        • You can march in costume, as a support member (banner, crowd control, assistance)

    • Shimmy Shakti Registration (Mardi Gras Season- December-April) $60 due 11/30
    • Open Studio Class/Information Session/Mixer (OPTIONAL Tryout Class): 
      • Saturday, November 9 - Drop In $15 due 11/9
    • Registration Deadline: November 30, 2024
    • Requirements:
      • Know basic 12 belly dance moves
        • Attendance in at least 8 studio classes (by Karla Marie)
          • All classes attended between August 2024-January 2025 count towards your required number of classes to march/dance.
            • Aug/Sept '24 Belly Dance Bootcamp
            • Oct/Nov '24 Choreography Intensive
            • January '25 Technique Basics: Thursday Jan 16, 23, 30 (7pm-8:30pm)
            • January '25 Conditioning: Saturdays Jan 11, 18, 25 (11am-12pm)
            • '25 Park Practice: Sunday, Jan 19 and Sunday, Feb 2
        • For Class Fees, check class schedule (approximate cost is $15-20 per class, depending on your selection)
      • Know basic 4 formations

I want to march with Shimmy Shakti- Krewe of Goddesses

Come parade with us!!!! You have two options when parading with us...  1. Join as an official  Shimmy Shakti Goddess Krewe Member (march/dance). Shimmy Shakti Goddesses are belly dancing members of our krewe.   Studio class attendance required You will learn belly dance basics and combos for the parades Park marching practice required Full class schedule below Guest/Visiting Belly Dancers/Troupes can join as Habibis! (No class required- Isis wings optional) 2. Join as a support member. There are two types of support members: Habibi:   Habibis march in the formation and follow the Shimmy Shakti Goddesses wearing Isis Wings and helping distribute specialty throws.  Studio class attendance is not required.  Park marching practice is required Support Member ( Nazar ):   Nazar Support Members assist with protection, with carrying the banner or flags in front, wagons, crowd control, and water. Wear a Nazar - evil eye - shirt- white, blue, or black Studio class attendance is not required.  P
